A family photo session can be many different things: a way to capture some wonderful moments between you and your family forever, a gift for grandparents and other family, and tons of fun. It can also be a very stressful and unnerving experience. You are spending your hard earned money to get some great shots and there can be a lot of pressure to make sure it isn’t wasted…
As a professional photographer in Saint John I love to have fun & get myself in all kinds of weird places to get the best shots I can. Just see the sample picture to see the lengths I go to when trying to get a great shot. This was a fun session!
Here’s a few tips to help you get the most out of your experience.
Hire a Professional: You put a lot of effort into getting ready for this day. Things like purchasing new clothes, new hairdos, and the stress of brushing little heads of hair before it’s time to go. You want to ensure that you will receive a quality product. Hiring a professional will ensure your family photo session is all you hoped for.
Kids 2 and under: As parents we are quite in-tune with our children. We know what time of the day they need to nap and we know what time of day they can be the easiest to work with. Work with your photographer to ensure a good fit for your child’s schedule.
Your photographer has seen it all before: There’s usually no need to worry or apologize for a child that’s being uncooperative during a shoot. Your photographer has been there, and done that, and probably has seen worse. Just try to relax. Your children will feel your stress. Even if your child was crying for most of the shoot, there will be at least a few shots where they will look like they were smiling.
Just let things happen: Sometimes your children will not want to cooperate. They will want to run down to the pond and catch frogs instead of posing on a bench. Your goal is to capture your family as they are at this moment. Catching some frogs with them can create some unique and wonderful photos that you’ll treasure, and create some memories that will last a lifetime.
